Why Live in Irving

Irving is a neighborhood in West Duluth, resting on the banks of the St. Louis River. The community, divided by railroad tracks, is partly residential and partly industrial with most single-family homes to the north and west. These homes, primarily simple cottages and traditional-style houses from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, range from $150,000 to $370,000. The centrally located Irving Park features a soccer field, basketball court and playground. Along the St. Louis River, Indian Point offers fishing and camping, and the Western Waterfront Trail traces the shoreline. Another trail is nearby at Grassy Point. Most nearby shops and restaurants are north of Interstate 35 and include fast-food chains and local favorites like China King Buffet and Sammy’s Pizza & Restaurant. Jade Fountain Cocktail Lounge and Mr. D’s Bar & Grill offer nightlife. Super One Foods is the closest grocery store. Downtown Duluth is about 6 miles away. While driving is common, Duluth Transit Authority serves the neighborhood. Students can attend Duluth Public Schools, with Lincoln Park Middle and Denfeld High earning above-average ratings. Winters in Duluth are notably cold, with temperatures often dropping below zero and significant snowfall accumulating by mid-December.
