While border crossings are facilitated at the Eagle Pass International Bridge by the Rio Grande, Siesta Acres enjoys a special relationship with Piedras Negas in Coahuila as Eagle Pass' sister city. Every March, they celebrate their collaboration across borders through the International Friendship Festival where they end the ceremony in a warm abrazo, or “embrace.” “We have a very good relationship with our sister city,” Aranda Real Estate owner Romelia Aranda says. “We are two communities that have a bridge and a river that runs through the middle of us. But without that, we are one community.” Public transportation in Eagle Pass is provided by the Southwest Area Regional Transit District, which runs a fleet of 52 buses that can be reserved 24 hours in advance.
