East Norwegian Township is a largely rural, undeveloped slice of Pennsylvania close to Pottsville. Locals looking to live on the edge of two boroughs, while still having proximity to town amenities, Pennsylvania Route 61 and employment opportunities, are drawn to the township’s secluded atmosphere. “The big thing that draws people over there is that’s where one of the Lehigh Valley Hospitals is located, so there is employment,” says Nada Laguna, a Realtor with EveryHome Realtors. “There are a lot of rental properties over in that area.” The Schuylkill branch of the hospital in Pottsville, as well as an industrial park on the west side of East Norwegian Township, provide job opportunities. Tenants of the industrial park include Hexcel and Spector Manufacturing. Much of the housing stock in East Norwegian Township are on the outskirts of St. Clair and Port Carbon. For single-family properties, homebuyers often have ranch-style homes or detached rowhouses to choose from. Other architectural styles are mixed in, including larger colonial-style homes or farmhouses, and some can be on acreage. Prices vary as much as the housing styles, but typically fall between $110,000 and $170,000.
