Students attend well-rated schools, including Lancaster Elementary School, which is right in the neighborhood. The centrally located Lancaster Park has a playground but not much shade. Nearby Pueblo Viejo Park and Pavo Real Aquatic Center provide better options for beating the heat. The Pavo Real rec center also hosts a run club and seasonal events and sports tournaments. Locals meet at the El Paso Library's Sergio Troncoso branch for citizenship and English language classes. Shopping centers Plaza de Flores and Zaragoza Village are situated across the road from each other in Lancaster's northwest section, offering a mix of discount stores, chain restaurants like Denny's and Pizza Hut, and groceries at El Super. Loop 375 makes commuting easy, and downtown El Paso is about 15 miles away. Travelers have a 12-mile drive to El Paso International Airport. Idling traffic at nearby border checkpoints can affect air quality.
