Why Live in Milagro Hills

Milagro Hills is a residential neighborhood in the shadow of the Franklin Mountains in northeastern El Paso. Many homes get passed down through families in this established community. It’s also home to many military families, because Fort Bliss, the Army garrison that houses the 1st Armored Division, takes up more than a million acres to the east. Although far from the city center, the Milagro Hills area has its own restaurants, grocery stores and parks. “You really don’t ever have to leave if you don’t want to,” says Linda Bastraw, broker and owner of Linda Bastraw Realty, LLC. Most of the community’s residential streets are in parallel, running east-west before bending southeast. Rushing Road cuts vertically through them before it curves and connects with Dyer Street, the area’s eastern boundary. “Getting around is not difficult,” Bastraw says. “In newer areas, the roads are narrow. When there’s traffic coming both ways and there’s a car parked on the street, that can be hard. But that’s not the case here.” Homes in the neighborhood are mostly from the 1950s and '60s and are mainly ranch-style, with brick exteriors and two-car garages. Prices can range from $150,000 to $280,000.
