Tipton Area Home for Sale

Tipton Area is a residential neighborhood just south of downtown Elkhart, offering a mix of century-old homes and modern conveniences. Named for Tipton Street, which parallels the Elkhart River, the area combines riverfront serenity with proximity to city life. Gridded, sidewalk-lined streets feature American Foursquare and Craftsman-style homes, as well as other 20th-century architectural styles. Residents enjoy access to Studebaker Park, a 42-acre green space along the Elkhart River. It has pickleball courts, a ball field and walking trails near the river, which is a popular spot for fishing and paddling. It also links to the River Greenway Trail. Ayala’s Mexican Restaurant is the Tipton Area’s only restaurant, and it's known for serving tacos. Most shopping and dining take place in downtown, just north of the neighborhood. There, restaurants include Artisan, 523 Tap & Grill and Hot Dog Eddy’s. Martin’s Super Market and Elkhart Farmers Market provide grocery options. Downtown is also home to the National New York Central Railroad Museum and hosts events like the Elkhart Jazz Festival. The Interurban Trolley Orange Line stops in Tipton Area, and the city’s Amtrak station is a few miles away. The Indiana Toll Road is north of the neighborhood.
