Why Live in Wendell

Wendell is a rural Massachusetts community with around 1,000 residents, situated between Orange and Greenfield. The nature-filled surroundings are a draw to the neighborhood, with the Wendell State Forest occupying over 7,500 acres. The forest has trails for hiking and biking along with areas for paddling, fishing and boating. Winter activities include skiing, ice skating and snowmobiling. Nearby spots include the Orange State Forest, Lake Wyola State Park and Quabbin Reservoir. Homes are spread out and often sit on multi-acre lots. Residents rely on cars for transportation, with State Route 2A running along the north side and connecting the area with Orange, less than 10 miles east. Greenfield is around 15 miles west, and Amherst sits about 20 miles south. The Deja Brew Café & Pub is the only restaurant, offering food and live music while open two days a week. Orange has shopping stops like Walmart and Hannaford. The tight-knit community comes together for events like the North Quabbin Garlic & Arts Festival.
