"We’re at the point where we know all of our neighbors by name,” says Amy Thomasson, a travel agent who has lived in the area for over a decade. When an ice storm hit the region in January 2025, she says that her neighbors were checking in to make sure everyone was safe and had what they needed to get through the storm. “We ban together when we need to,” she says. Mid-to-late 20th-century ranch-style homes line the streets, where homes have grassy lawns shaded by oak trees. “We have a really big backyard,” Thomasson says. “We end up with deer and raccoons and possums and foxes.
