Foresthill, California, is a small mountain town within the Tahoe National Forest area of the Sierra Nevada. It has a minimum of 1-acre lots, providing spacious properties for small cabins and large mountain mansions. The town is about an hour northeast of Sacramento and 2 hours southwest of Lake Tahoe. Foresthill Road is the only way to drive in and out from the nearest larger town, Auburn, just under 20 miles southwest. Students go to Foresthill Elementary, Foresthill Divide School and Foresthill High, which all receive high marks, with the high school offering dual enrollment courses with Sierra College. Local dining options are concentrated on Main Street, featuring Happy Mouth Bakery & Café, Foresthill Farms & Bakery, Mountain Cub, Red Dirt Saloon and Brew Master’s Deli. Worton’s Market serves as the town's grocery store, while Auburn provides additional retail and medical centers. It should be noted that Foresthill faces a severe wildfire risk, as evidenced by the 2022 Mosquito Fire.
