Why Live in Bundschu

Bundschu is a neighborhood in Independence centered around its namesake park. On tree-shaded blocks, buyers can find a mix of larger early twentieth-century and smaller mid-century homes settled behind well-maintained yards. Prices are relatively low, but have increased over the years as people have updated their homes. Bundschu Park, the green space in the center of the neighborhood, offers basketball courts, a playground, walking trail, picnic shelters and a walking trail. Locally owned restaurants serve global cuisines close to home. Pancho’s Mexican Food is open 24 hours a day. Lao Peking is the go-to spot for Asian specialties, and A Little B-B-Q Joint serves barbecue staples just about a mile away. Sterling Apple Market is the closest place to buy groceries. The neighborhood is also a short drive from the Englewood Arts District, which has plenty of commercial and cultural offerings of its own and hosts the Third Friday Art Walk outdoor art market during the warmer months. Bundschu is just two miles from downtown Independence. Commuters have a roughly 20-minute drive to downtown Kansas City.
