Why Live in Phoenix

Phoenix is a small residential community nestled among Jacksonville’s Urban Core. These older neighborhoods north of downtown were largely developed before World War II and made up the bulk of the city limits before consolidation in the late 1960s. Phoenix is bordered by Springfield, which is the center of the city’s efforts to revitalize the urban core, so residents enjoy appealing proximity to a burgeoning commercial and entertainment district. “The city has been trying to get money into the urban core for about 20 years,” says Eric Cavanagh of Nexthome Assurance Realty, who adds that efforts were initially interrupted by the mid-2000s housing crisis and later by COVID. “Some areas have developed and gentrified, while other areas have not."
