Why Live in Gray

Gray is a residential neighborhood in Joplin, Missouri with a variety of architectural styles. The community has 1920s bungalows, cottages and American Foursquares with decorative tiling and stone work. Lush, short-cut lawns add to the area’s curb appeal, and prices range between $95,000 and $350,000. Sidewalks line nearly every road, and new bike lanes will be built along Fourth Street. Downtown Joplin is about a mile east, and local businesses and dining establishments are within walking distance. Popular spots include the Joplin Avenue Coffee Company and Crabby’s, a seafood restaurant with crab cakes, pan-seared scallops and lobster. The Harry M. Cornell Arts and Entertainment Complex opened in 2022 and hosts special performances and art galleries through Connect2Culture and the Spiva Center for the Arts. Schifferdecker Park and Landreth Park have several recreational facilities and sports fields about 2 miles away. The Joplin Regional Airport offers direct flights to major cities such as Denver and Chicago, and Freeman Hospital West is open 24 hours a day. The Sunshine Lamp Trolley's Red Route provides public transportation to the west side of the city. Students go to Dover Hill Elementary, North Middle and Joplin High, which has 22 varsity sports programs.
