Palestine East, located 5 miles south of downtown Kansas City, is a residential neighborhood known for its large, covered front porches and a strong sense of community. The area stretches between Cleveland and Jackson Avenues from Linwood to E. 39th Street. Many families have lived here for generations, with more than half of the residents owning their homes. The neighborhood features Craftsman-like homes, bungalows, and ranch-style houses, mostly built between the 1930s and 1970s, with mature trees and small, sloping lawns. Residents can walk to local parks, schools, and mom-and-pop eateries, with the VA hospital just a mile away. Central Park, less than a mile away, includes a walking trail, playground, recreation areas, and native gardens. The nearby Linwood/James B. Nutter, Sr. YMCA provides an indoor pool, basketball court, and various wellness programs. Public transportation is available through numerous RideKC stops.
