With roots going back to 1840, Kaufman is a small city about 30 miles from Dallas. Its downtown streets are lined with historic buildings converted into lofts, restaurants and town offices, while newer developments further out feature New Traditional homes with arched entryways. Closer to the center, residential streets follow a grid layout shaded by mesquite and oak trees, with Victorian-era architecture still visible in places. Rural areas on the outskirts lean toward ranch-style and farm-type properties.
