Just east of downtown La Crosse and the Mississippi River, Grandview Emerson has been a popular area since the turn of the century. Some streets retain their original red brick, and many homes trace back to the neighborhood's earliest days. "The stone foundations of some of the more prominent properties were actually quarried [at Grandad Bluff]," says Dan Stacey of RE/MAX Results Eden Prarie, a Realtor born and raised in this city. Grandad Bluff is the highest peak in La Crosse and a key part of its diverse topography, which includes marshland and ravines. One of the city's most popular parks, Myrick Park, and the University of Wisconsin is in Grandview Emerson. "[The neighborhood] offers larger scale historic homes. Some are [on the national register], some are not. There's an interesting blend from craftsman-style to Tudor-[Revivals] to Colonial-[Revivals]," Stacey says. "There are some 1920s bungalows through there as well." Prices range from around $143,000 upwards of $600,000 as square footage increases. A few stately homes in Romanesque and Neoclassical styles range from $995,000 to over $1 million. Another small handful are condos and multifamily properties, ranging from
