Why Live in Mouton

The Mouton neighborhood may not have much name recognition in Lafayette, but many know the area as a growing part of the city. "Pont Des Mouton Road is there. But people just call that area North Lafayette," says Charles Ditch, a Lafayette resident and seasoned Realtor with Keaty Real Estate Team. "There's a lot of industry. You got service companies that are part of the oilfield industry, which is a big economic driver for the parish." Ditch says the area is experiencing a growth in housing and infrastructure. "For years, that area has been neglected, but now it's getting a lot of attention and redevelopment. A lot of work is being done, and they are expanding the road." The suburban community has several schools and easy access to highways. Mouton has older cottages and ranch-style houses in addition to New Traditional dwellings built over the last 20 years. There are also new constructions. "You'll find a lot of newer homes because the city is expanding into Carencro," Ditch says. "It floods a lot here.
