Why Live in Canta Ranas
Canta Ranas is a Webb County community in southern Laredo that borders the banks of the Rio Grande. This community features modest homes and partially paved roads, where residents maintain small livestock pens and vegetable gardens reflective of South Texas’ agricultural roots. "There's a strong sense of camaraderie throughout the community," says Martha Wright-Martinez, Laredo native and Realtor with Coldwell Banker Ana Ochoa & Company. "It's really reflected all throughout the city but it thrives more in working-class neighborhoods such as Canta Ranas." Located about 3 miles from the World Trade Bridge—a major U.S.-Mexico trade corridor—the area balances quiet riverside living with access to cross-border commerce. North-south running Anna Avenue separates Canta Ranas from the Rio Grande on the west portion of the community. Streets here are lined with fully fenced ranch-style homes, manufactured properties and a few New Traditional homes. There are several multi-family complexes spread throughout the community; many are marketed as investment properties or fixer-uppers. Most homes here date from the 1980s through the early 2000s, with three-bedroom layouts especially common.
