The capital of Arkansas is also the largest city in the state, Little Rock, also known as ‘The Rock’ or ‘Rock Town’. Little Rock is a compact metropolis and many of its residents live in one of the numerous condominiums, shared duplexes, and apartment buildings in the city. Whether you are looking for a one, two, or three-bedroom condo or apartment, Little Rock has a wealth of option within a wide range of budgets.

Little Rock, located on the scenic banks of the Arkansas River, is home to a number of distinctive neighborhoods and residential communities within its borders. Capitol View or Stifft’s Station, located in west central Little Rock, contains about 1500 residences and is home to much craftsman, Tudor, and colonial architectural detailing. East Little Rock, on the other hand, is predominantly industrial with a small enclave of residential sections. Mabelvale, The Heights, and Hillcrest are residential and fairly upper class suburban neighborhoods that are interspersed with various retail and commercial shopping centers. Chenal Valley is an enclave that is rapidly growing in its number of affluent homes and structures, as is the Governor’s Mansion District. The South Main Residential Historic District, in contrast, is primarily comprised of older homes and buildings.

Little Rock, though it is a small city relative to other state capitals, is home to many hundreds of successful companies, and especially a large sector of non-profits. The non-profits that are anchored in Little Rock include Heifer International, Winrock International, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, Lions World Services for the Blind, the Clinton Presidential Center, and the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation. Dillard’s Department Stores, Windstream Communications, and Acxiom are three major corporations headquartered in Little Rock. Other significant employers in the city include Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Baptist Health Medical Center, Entergy, L’Oreal Paris, Timex, UAMS, Euronet Worldwide, and Dassault Falcon Jet.
