Central Allen provides housing, parks and shopping just off Interstate 75
Home to the largest high school in Texas, Central Allen is more mixed-use than other suburban Dallas-Forth Worth area communities, with housing, schools, parks, shopping and dining all in one neighborhood. Allen High School sits beside a 125-acre park and is surrounded on all sides by a mix of housing and retail developments. Interstate 75, the northern suburb's direct route to Dallas, borders Central Allen to the west, offering access into the city. “Central Allen is a very established area off of Greenville,” says Realtor Clair Cannon with Douglas Elliman Real Estate. “You can get to pretty much anything that you would want from a shopping standpoint, and you have good access to the freeways. It’s a nice, easy area to live in.”

High demand for Central Allen homes
Though Central Allen is mostly commercial, it does have some apartments and in-demand single-family homes. Brick ranch-style homes are typical here, as are new traditional homes with brick and limestone exteriors. “Most of the homes are ‘70s and ‘80s built, and they’re well maintained,” Cannon says. “A lot of them have had multiple owners because they’ve been around for 40- or 50-something years, and I think that the tasteful updates that people have done have made those homes desirable.” Recent sales prices in Central Allen primarily fall between $300,000 and $600,000, and the market here moves quickly, with homes selling after an average of 17 days on the market, much quicker than the national average of 48. “If it’s priced right for the condition, it’s going to sell typically within the first weekend,” Cannon says.
With no HOA, Central Allen gives homeowners more freedom.

All roads lead to Allen High School
Students in Central Allen can attend schools in the esteemed Allen Independent School District, which has an overall A-plus grade on Niche and ranks on the site as the top school district in Collin County. Depending on where in the neighborhood they live, students start at either the B-rated Boyd Elementary or the A-rated Reed, Marion or Olson elementaries. Boyd students continue to Ereckson Middle School, which Niche gives an A-plus rating and ranks as the second best public middle school in Collin County. Reed, Marion and Olson students continue to the A-rated Curtis Middle School. All Allen Independent School District students attend the A-rated Lowery Freshman Center before continuing to the A-rated Allen High School. “Allen has only one high school, and they are very proud of that,” Cannon says. “People flock to Allen because of that one high school. I have clients that are under contract right now that specifically sought out Allen so that their son could be in the Allen band. The Allen band is huge – it covers the entire football field.” The school’s nearly 7,000-student enrollment makes it one of the largest high schools in the country and the largest in the state of Texas. Allen's advanced Career and Technical Education center includes a student-run restaurant that’s open to the public and a merch store operated by the marketing and business students.
