Affordable homes and nearby downtown Auburn
Pine Hills’ location 2 miles north of downtown Auburn is a major draw, but so are its highly rated schools and homes. “A lot of university people live there, since it’s close to the university,” says Amy Cotney, Realtor at Roots Real Estate Investment Development in Auburn. “The homes are kinda quirky — and you know professors love quirky homes.” Adjacent to the popular Cary Woods neighborhood, Pine Hills distinguishes itself with more affordable and unique houses, including eclectic ranch-style homes.
Older homes throughout Pine Hills
Tall evergreens line the narrow neighborhood streets and cul-de-sacs of Pine Hills. While some homes have attached garages, many only have carports. Prices range from the upper $200,000s to the low $500,000s, with the upper edge offering more square footage and recent updates. The area’s ranch and bi-level homes are generally smaller and more affordable than those in the adjacent Cary Woods neighborhood. “Cary Woods is one of Auburn’s favorite places, but Pine Hills is a little different,” Cotney says. “It’s older homes, probably talking 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. A lot of mature landscaping.”
