Driving 30 miles east from Denver to Tallyn’s Reach, lots begin to expand, as do opportunities for outdoor adventures. “Tallyn’s Reach has very Colorado, back-to-nature vibes,” says Shannon Pietrus, a broker with 8z Real Estate who has five years of real estate experience in the Denver metro. “There’re lots of trails that wind throughout the neighborhood and the community; it’s also an early 2000s neighborhood, so you have mature trees that are already 20 to 25 years old.” The neighborhood is part of a metro district, so property taxes are higher to fund the maintenance of these parks and sidewalks. Despite feeling more spacious and quieter, the community is not completely isolated. Tallyn’s Reach neighbors one of Denver’s largest malls, Southlands.

Cherry Creek Schools curriculum
Cherry Creek School – the No. 3 best school district in Colorado, according to Niche – serves the Tallyn’s Reach community. Black Forest Hills Elementary, which earns a grade of A from Niche, teaches kindergarteners through fifth graders. Students may begin at Fox Ridge Middle School in sixth grade. Fox Ridge earns an A-minus grade from Niche, while Cherokee Trail High School, where children start in ninth grade, earns a grade of A. Red-tailed Hawk Park recreation, paddleboarding and kayaking
Trails lead from homes to neighborhood parks, accessible by driving down Aurora Parkway. Children scale the rock wall and slide down the nature-themed playground at Red-tailed Hawk Park. The Piney Creek Trail passes through this park’s 35 acres, weaving through wetlands for a quiet stroll and by the water sprayground, where delighted laughter flows during warm summer days. Golden Eagle Park’s pavilions shade picnickers and the playground gives children nets to climb. Less than 7 miles away, swimmers dive and fishermen cast lines into the water at Aurora Reservoir. The reservoir doubles as a nature preserve with trails winding by the water’s edge, where paddleboarders and kayakers head out.

Celebrating from the clubhouse to downtown Aurora
Tallyn’s Reach maintains a monthly calendar of events, from annual holiday parades to celebrations at the Southlands mall. The clubhouse in the community’s center hosts parties ranging from pictures with Santa to Food Truck Fridays outside the pool. The metro district and the city of Aurora host Fourth of July parades, where crowds gather in red, white and blue, ready to watch fireworks light the sky after sunset. Schools also join in on celebrations, with the elementary schools hosting holiday events such as trunk-or-treat, Pietrus says.

Shopping trips from King Soopers to Southlands
King Soopers Marketplace is right off Smoky Hill Road to the east for weekly grocery runs and dinners out of the house. Bookmakers Bar & Grill pours out amber liquor chosen from the wall of whiskey, pairing it with burgers and onion rings. Major retailers, such as H&M, fill the sidewalks within Southlands outdoor mall. Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar sits at the front of the mall and is one of many restaurant chains mixed in with the shops.

Craftsman builds in Tallyn’s Reach
Meticulously maintained lawns decorate the fronts of homes and shared spaces within the Tallyn’s Reach Master Association’s jurisdiction. Monthly payments between $86 and $95 cover the landscaping and snow removal costs, which is helpful given the annual snowfall total of around 56 inches. While temperatures can reach low digits and bring piles of snow, fire risk is higher in this neighborhood than in Denver metros further west toward the city. Among the mature trees, Craftsman homes and sidewalks line cul-de-sacs.
These houses were built after the 2000s and list between $659,000 and $1.3 million for three to five bedrooms, respectively. Community amenities, such as the pool and tennis courts, are accessible from trails and bike paths. “There’s really a secluded feel to it, especially on the east side,” says Jason Morris, host of the Living in Aurora Colorado YouTube channel. “Between that and the amenities, Tallyn’s Reach is definitely a neighborhood in demand for those looking at a higher price point.”

Sidewalks, Express 470 and Tallyn’s Reach thoroughfares
Express 470 traces along Tallyn’s Reach’s western edge, connecting commuters with Denver in roughly 27 miles. Smoky Hill Road stretches from the northwest by Southlands outdoor mall to the southeast by King Soopers. The Assembly Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses is tucked behind the fencing on the road’s southeastern stretch and is accessible by sidewalks from the cul-de-sacs that branch off Glasgow Drive. Arapahoe cuts west through the neighborhood’s middle, intersecting with Aurora Parkway, which leads north to Southlands and south to Red-tailed Hawk Park.
