Fox Valley
Catchment areas in District 204
The Indian Prairie Community Unit School District 204 serves Fox Valley, a highly sought-after district, according to Booth. Those east of Commons Drive begin at Owen Elementary, which earns an A-plus on Niche, while Cowlishaw Elementary serves those west of the road with an A on Niche. Similarly, those east continue on to Still Middle School, and those west attend Granger Middle School, both of which earn an A on Niche. Metea Valley High School unites both catchments, earning an A-plus on Niche with the highest ratings in academics and college prep. There, students are encouraged to strategically choose their extracurricular activities according to the disciplines they fall under to begin resume building.A Metra station in the neighborhood
The Route 59 Metra station is located just north of Meridian Lake, offering four separate commuter parking lots and an hour's ride to Chicago. “Most people take the Metra, and it’s an 8-minute drive to the station, which is a big deal,” Booth explains. “The Naperville-Aurora area is huge and spread out. To have a Metra station so close is a real advantage.” Those preferring to make the drive can head 35 miles east to Downtown Chicago on Interstate 290 and I-88. Chicago Midway International Airport is about 33 miles in the same direction on I-55. Naperville is about 4 miles east, where the closest emergency room is at Endeavor Health Edward Hospital. Downtown Aurora is 6 miles west, providing the last Metra stop on the BNSF line to Union Station. Local travel might mean catching a bus on New York Street or along Route 59, as traffic around the mall might be congested.Shopping and eats on Route 59
Restaurants and retail spots line Route 59, Fox Valley’s central hub. Serving the greater population of Naperville, standalone stores like Menards and Home Depot surround Fox Valley Mall, which offers more than 150 outlets and eateries. Anchored by department stores like Macy’s and JCPenney, the mall avoids declining popularity by featuring family-friendly entertainment options and internationally inspired eats. From Qamaria Yemeni Coffee to La Michoacana Deluxe Ice Cream, sweets and treats from around the globe are hardly far. Basil’s Greek Dining and Bawarchi Indian Cuisine serve rich cultural entrees, while global markets like Mall of India, Park to Shop and International Fresh Market stock the ingredients for meals had at home. Of course, household names, including Whole Foods and Walmart Supercenter, are also accessible just south of Route 34.Single and multi-family builds share winding subdivisions
Townhomes and condominiums, along with ranch-style homes and split levels, are among the most popular home styles in Fox Valley. These single-family builds often occupy the same residential streets as multi-family properties, creating a comfortable mix of styles in almost every subdivision. Ranging in price between $150,000 and $550,000, homebuyers can expect those priced on the higher end to include driveways with attached garages and neat front lawns. More compact townhome communities, like those off Station Boulevard, feature brick façades with private parking lots out front. Regardless, residents will often find that homes wrap around modest lakes, some even boasting views of the water from the back porch. The pollinator habitat and prairie next door
While there aren’t any trails at Night Heron Marsh Forest Preserve, many residents live less than a mile from the 87-acre butterfly habitat developed a few years ago, creating a pollinator-rich prairie just minutes from their homes. Those seeking outdoor recreation, however, can head to Spring Lake Park. “It’s not really common to have a fishing pond right in town,” Booth says of the 11-acre lake. Aside from casting a rod, visitors frequent the walking path, playground, ball fields and half basketball court. Ideal for walkers and joggers is Wildflower Park, where a wide, paved path outlines Wildflower Lake at the center. Just south of the mall, Springbrook Prairie is divided between a golf course and dog park to the west and an open prairie to the east. Trails wrap around the park’s perimeter, intertwined with Spring Brook Creek.
