For some shade, residents are a little over 2 miles away from Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park, a 293-acre park with waterside hiking and cycling trails beneath towering oak trees. The 6-acre Oertli Neighborhood Park on the southern side of Harris Ridge is slated to open soon.

Friday night lights at Connally High
Neighborhood kids can walk to class at Dessau Elementary School and Dessau Middle School, which have C and C-plus Niche grades. John B. Connally High School holds a B rating from Niche and has a strong following for its powerhouse football team. Friday nights on the football field are lively as the community comes together to cheer on the Cougars.
