Kingston residents have access to several parts of the city. “It’s near the Interstate [20] and the airport, so the convenience is great,” says Erika Coleman, a Realtor with Coleman Realty Group who has sold homes in Birmingham for around six years. While there are no MAX Transit bus stops in the neighborhood, there are several in the bordering East Birmingham and Woodlawn areas. Riders can take the bus around 4 miles to Central City and to Druid Hills, where they can visit attractions like the Birmingham Museum of Art and the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame, respectively. The University of Alabama at Birmingham is a nearly 10-minute drive.
Residents have to leave the neighborhood for most groceries
There are not many places to pick up food close to the neighborhood, though there is a small Discount Grocery and a few convenience stores. Residents can visit a Dollar General in East Avondale or a Vineyard Food Market in Crestwood North. Live HealthSmart Alabama’s Mobile Market occasionally visits the community, bringing fresh fruits, vegetables and meats. Local restaurants include 10th Ave Deli and American Ranch House, a Southern-style eatery.
