Boston Heights is a gateway to Cuyahoga Valley National Park

Boston Heights is tucked along the edge of Cuyahoga Valley National Park in northeast Ohio, appealing to buyers seeking a quieter lifestyle with room to spread out. The park gives residents plenty to see and do year-round, and people can even catch a glimpse of the 60-foot Brandywine Falls. The area is more than just an outdoor getaway thanks to its strong schools and large lots, and commuters have short drives to cities like Cleveland and Akron.

What buyers can pay for ranch-style homes and larger estates

The city is filled with ranch-style homes from the mid- to late 1900s that can run from the lower $300,000s to the upper $400,000s. Larger estates can vary in style but often range from the lower $500,000s to the upper $600,000s. Many of the area's homes have lots of half an acre or more, and some of them have private septic systems and water wells. The community tends to be much more expensive than nearby areas like Macedonia and Northfield Center, and it is roughly on par with Hudson to the east.

Bike along the East Rim Trail or visit Brandywine Falls

About a third of the city's land belongs to Cuyahoga Valley National Park, providing forests to explore and historical landmarks to see. "We like to think of ourselves as the gateway to the national park," says Ron Antal, the Boston Heights mayor. The park's East Rim Trail system is popular with mountain bikers, and people often kayak along the Cuyahoga River. You can take pictures in front of Brandywine Falls, a 60-foot waterfall surrounded by trees. Elsewhere, Matthews-Thomas Park has a fish-stocked pond with a surrounding walking trail, a playground and baseball fields. You can play 18 holes at the nearby Ellsworth Meadows Golf Club. When winter arrives, the Boston Mills/Brandywine ski resort has nearly 20 trails to ride, including the steepest ski slope in the state.
