Housing options lean heavily toward condos and apartments, with a blend of early 20th-century Boston triple-deckers, renovated mixed-use buildings, midrise condos and newly constructed luxury properties. “Jeffries Point has quite a mix of inventory,” says Jamie Cholette, a longtime East Boston resident and the broker/owner of Boston Harbor Real Estate. “But there aren’t many single-family homes; most have been converted into multifamily condos.” Newer units often include garage parking — a huge perk in this part of the city, where parking is notoriously difficult — and private roof decks or balconies. Most residents rent, and the median monthly rent price is around $3,300. The neighborhood’s median sale price of $720,000 is low for Boston and significantly below the medians for nearby harborside neighborhoods like Seaport and the North End. “You can get a bit more square footage for the sale price,” says Cholette. Sale prices typically range from the lower $400,000s to the upper $1 millions.

With skyline views, water access and stunning sunsets, Piers Park is one of the neighborhood's highlights. Multiple MBTA bus routes and Blue Line stations serve the neighborhood, making it easy to commute to Downtown Boston. The 3-mile trip downtown typically takes 10 to 20 minutes on the T, depending on your starting point. Water taxis and seasonal ferry service provide additional options for trips across the harbor to Logan Airport, the Seaport district and Long Wharf. “Jeffries Point is a great part of Boston for someone who doesn’t have or want a car,” Cholette says. While the ferries are convenient, you don’t have to rely on them to get to Logan; some houses are within walking distance of the terminals. “It’s really convenient for people who travel for work,” says Cholette. “In fact, some flight crew live in the neighborhood because of the proximity to the airport.”
