One of Bowie's newer neighborhoods
Highbridge Park is a suburban community that was born with the city’s latest commercial and residential expansion in the 1990s and early 2000s. Since then, “Bowie’s become almost entirely built out,” says Kyle McCarthy, a Realtor associate with Re/Max Leading Edge with over 40 years of experience. “There’s new construction around the science area right off of (U.S Route) 50, but besides that, there’s not much more room to build.” As part of the “new Bowie,” Highbridge Park features homes that have modern open-floor plans and a higher price point than the traditional Levitt homes that defined the city in the 1950s and 1960s. Today, it’s an appealing landing spot for commuters who want to be within an hour’s drive of Washington, D.C., Annapolis, or Baltimore, while having several transit options to get around.

Locals can stroll along neighborhood paths and play at Allen Pond Park
Neighborhood walking paths branch off Gothic Lane and Gullivers Trail and lead to a playground and tennis courts. Pope’s Creek Park is just west of Highbridge Park and features fields for soccer and baseball, as well as a picnic area and public grills for a summer cookout. There’s also Allen Pond Park for folks to fish for bass and trout, hike along the pond’s loop trail, shoot hoops at the basketball court or practice tricks at the skate park.
Allen Park Pond is also a short walk from Enfield Chase and is a great place to take an afternoon stroll.

Local restaurants along Highbridge Road, and Bowie Town Center for shopping runs
At the intersection of Highbridge Road and Annapolis Road is a strip mall with a Lidl for groceries and local restaurants like East Moon Asian Bistro for fusion dishes and BLVCK COW for upscale New American fare and cocktails. Just a couple miles east of the neighborhood is Bowie Town Center, the city’s premier shopping mall built in the 2000s, which hosts over 70 retailers from Macy’s to Best Buy, as well as a Safeway for groceries.
Bowie Town Center is just south of Highbridge Park and is full of big box stores.

New millennium homes and townhouses on the market
Homes in Highbridge Park range from $450,000 to $650,000, varying by square footage and lot size. McCarthy mentions that it’s better to buy sooner rather than later due to the home inventory, “since the residential expansion is limited, if people want to settle here in a few years those home prices are going to rise.” Two- to three-story townhouses are priced toward the bottom of the range, while larger brick colonials, bilevels and Craftsman-style homes are priced higher. Streets are grid-patterned with plenty of sidewalks and moderate tree cover, and paved trails snake behind many backyards, making for a leisurely dog walk or morning jog.
Students can attend Prince George's County schools, with Bowie State University close to home
Prince George’s County Public Schools is the main district serving Highbridge Park. Highbridge Park is also 5 miles from Bowie State University, which is Maryland’s oldest HBCU, as it was founded in 1865. There were about 6,353 students enrolled at Bowie State as of Fall 2024.
