The best of Bowling Green in Crestmoor
In Bowling Green, the south-central suburb of Crestmoor has 20th-century homes, spacious lots, and highly rated schools within 3 miles of downtown and Western Kentucky University (WKU). Known for its ancient caverns in the Lost River Cave system and its Corvette manufacturing industry, Bowling Green has played many roles throughout American history. This well-established city has been a vital area in Southern Kentucky for hundreds of years, with residential neighborhoods like Crestmoor. "Bowling Green is one of the best places to live in the whole world. It has a hometown feel with big houses and everything you need," says Ron Cummings, broker at Century 21 Real Estate, who has lived in the city for over 30 years. "If we don't have what you need, Nashville is just an hour away."
Spacious quarter-acre lots and wide-ranging 1950s homes
Many houses sit on well-maintained lawns with trees and bushes that display a full range of colors as the seasons change. "Sometimes our four seasons are all in one day. If you don't like the weather in Bowling Green today, it'll be different tomorrow," Cummings says. Most properties have garages or carports, and on-street parking is rare. Crestmoor features New Traditional, bungalow and ranch-style architecture on quarter-acre lots. Most of the housing stock is from the 1950s and 1960s, although Crestmoor's bungalows are typically from the 1920s. Home prices range from $100,000 to $500,000. Some properties exceed 5,000 square feet, going for $1.2 million to $1.4 million. "The pricing is average for the area. Most homes are much older," Cummings says. "A lot of professors used to live in Crestmoor back in the day. They were concentrated there at one point but have since meandered elsewhere."
Highly rated schools with a variety of extracurricular activities
W.R. McNeill Elementary School earns an A-minus grade from Niche, and its Student Technology Leadership Program is an introduction to digital media skills and aspiring news careers. Bowling Green Junior High School also has an A-minus, offering extracurricular clubs, such as esports, forensic team and yearbook club. Warren Central High School receives a B-minus, with community oriented sports teams and a J.R.O.T.C. path.

Lost River Cave is a limestone cavern spanning 7 miles, with boat tours that dive into its geology and historical significance. Lost River Cave is known for its "blue holes," vertical caves filled with turquoise-colored water that can be more than 400 feet deep. The cave area also connects to H.P. Thomas Park, which has a playground, a dog park and 2 miles of hiking trails. Chuck Crume Nature Park has a mile-long gravel trail through a dense forest with black walnut trees and other plant life indigenous to Kentucky. Paul Walker Golf Course is a municipal nine-hole course with mature trees lined along fairways about 2 miles west.

Campbell Lane, directly south, is a hub with restaurant chains, shopping outlets and a Regal movie theater. El Mazatlan Bar and Grill is a local Mexican restaurant that serves fajitas and margaritas in a space with colorful murals and traditional décor.
