Bremerton’s Evergreen is near downtown, parks and employers
Evergreen is a waterfront neighborhood with an expansive green space between the Warren Avenue and Manette bridges on the Port Washington Narrows. Additionally, sidewalks connect to Evergreen Rotary Park, a primary community gathering place. “Evergreen Park is walkable to the downtown [Bremerton] area, Admiral Theatre and the Roxy Theatre,” says Realtor Andrea Peterson with Windermere Real Estate West Sound, Inc., who has two years of experience. “There are a lot of great eateries, whether in Bremerton or across the bridge in Manette, which is an eclectic area and nice to walk around.”
Homes at the end of the sidewalk and yards with space for gardening
Bungalows and cottages, some with Craftsman influences, sit at the end of paved walkways. Many backyards have enough space for a vegetable garden. Cars are often parked along streets, since garages are a rarity. Home prices range from about $240,000 to $480,000.
Bremerton parks with playgrounds and farmers markets
Several parks with playgrounds are within a 1-mile radius of many homes, including the Smith Nature Play and Warren Avenue parks. Lower Roto Vista Park offers water access near the Warren Avenue Bridge. Over the Manette Bridge, Illahee State Park has a tree-shaded path that spans just short of 1 mile. Evergreen Rotary Park’s green space includes a boat ramp, bike-friendly paths and volleyball and basketball courts. “[It] is a gorgeous park on Dyes Inlet where sometimes you can even see orcas swim by. This well-maintained park also has an epic playground, which is great for kids to have fun and meet other kids, with comfortable seating around it for the parents to catch up with each other,” says Jane Sebastian, the manager of the Bremerton Community Farmers Market, which is held in the park on Thursdays from May through October.
Some local businesses that participate in the market have storefronts downtown, such as Gastro Pup, a pet shop. “Each week, a performer will play music and patrons of the market will grab food from a food truck or stall and enjoy meals on the grass with their families. We've noticed folks will stay around longer and make it more of a whole evening activity rather than a quick stop on the way home,” says Kathleen Kondek, the market’s board secretary.
Restaurants from the park to Manette, shop variety and Midtown Market
Near Evergreen Rotary Park, Evergreen Pizza Co. serves wood-fired pies, and CJ’s Evergreen General Store has a candy counter and deli. In Manette, the Boat Shed’s dining room has wall-to-wall windows and overlooks the water. The Remedy Speakeasy is in Downtown Bremerton, which is home to several cultural and arts venues, including the Kitsap History Museum and Collective Visions Gallery. Downtown shops include Bremerton Mercantile, Chrey’s Fine Jewelry and Ballast Book Company. Midtown Market, a local grocery store, is about 2 miles away.
Learning in Evergreen and Bremerton High School Performing Arts Center
The Bremerton School District, which offers open enrollment and choice transfers, assigns a school to each student based on their home address. Evergreen is in the attendance boundary of Naval Avenue Elementary, a school that earns a B-minus grade from Niche. The C-graded Mountain View Middle School and Bremerton High School, which scores a C-plus, are also zoned for the neighborhood. All schools in the area use the Bremerton High School Performing Arts Center, which hosts over 100 events annually. It is also home to the high school’s award-winning band and orchestra. Olympic College, a community college, has a nearby campus that offers five bachelor's degree programs, including filmmaking and nursing.

Kitsap Transit bus stops are on 11th Street, a road that leads to Manette, about 2 miles away. Warren Avenue also has bus stops, and it connects the area to downtown and the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in a nearly 3-mile drive. Downtown is home to the Bremerton Ferry Terminal, where ferries tie the area to cities such as Seattle. Nearby hospitals include Virginia Mason Franciscan Health Emergency & Urgent Care. The Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is less than 55 miles away.
