Where classic brownstones meet a thriving arts community
Clinton Hill is a leafy, historic Brooklyn neighborhood celebrated for its elegant brownstones, creative spirit and relaxed, residential atmosphere. Students at Pratt Institute bring an academic character and vibrant arts scene, supported further by the neighborhood’s proximity to cultural landmarks such as the Brooklyn Academy of Music and Barclays Center. Once considered an extension of Bed-Stuy, Clinton Hill now stands apart with its unique blend of 19th-century architecture and modern cafés, boutiques and parks. Clinton Hill offers a quieter, more polished alternative to neighboring Fort Greene and Bed-Stuy, making it one of Brooklyn's most desirable places to call home.

A calm, polished alternative to nearby busier neighborhoods
Clinton Hill maintains a reputation as a peaceful enclave amidst its surrounding Brooklyn neighbors. Associate broker and longtime Brooklyn resident Alex Gandelman of Serhant says it’s one of the neighborhood’s most distinctive characteristics: “Clinton Hill’s historic designation keeps it quiet and serene. Fort Greene is similar; it’s another brownstone neighborhood but closer to Flatbush and Downtown Brooklyn, and Bed-Stuy has more activity in many ways,” he says, Due to its quiet residential atmosphere, homebuyers see Clinton Hill as a place to put down roots. “Young people have started to move here, and as they get older, they marry and start families, but they choose to stay,” says Elizabeth Stile, broker of record at Stile Real Estate and Clinton Hill resident since 1984.
Historic homes and competitive prices shape the market here
Italianate brownstones, Greek Revival rowhouses and converted carriage houses mingle side-by-side along Clinton Hill’s shaded streets. The neighborhood’s 19th-century styles range from Romanesque townhouses to a small number of grand freestanding mansions along avenues like Clinton and Washington. Many of these historic homes sit within landmarked districts, while newer condo developments tend to cluster along the neighborhood’s edges. “Prices have risen lately, but there’s a good selection on the market,” Stile says. Price points are higher than most of Brooklyn; renovated one bedroom condos often start around the mid $600,000s, and larger condos and co ops commonly range from $900,000 to $1.8 million. Classic brownstones and townhouses frequently sell from $1.5 million to well over $3 million, depending on size, condition and location. Clinton Hill’s median sale price of nearly $1.2 million is significantly higher than that of Brooklyn as a whole, which is just below $800,000.

Clinton Hill's restaurants embody the area's refined yet relaxed quality:

This is wonderful area to live. The stores and location is great. I find the people are extremely friendly and very informative. You will get an overall great experience when you step out on Myrtle Avenue which reminds of Manhattan. It is a city within it self.

Clinton Hill is basically Prospect heights' twin brother. Also very liberal and activist. Great for college students and raising a family. Wouldn't say it's completely crime free like the Upper East Side or some of the wealthy Manhattan areas, but it's still very safe in my experience.

Clinton Hill, Brooklyn is a leafy neighborhood with lots of great places to eat and to socialize with friends. Never boring, it has a mix of historic building types. Though it has gentrified, making housing expensive, there are still some families who have lived here for decades as well as students and newly arrived professionals in the neighborhood, making for a place with lots of different perspectives.
