You’ll drive past one stop sign, and next thing you know, you’re in the other city,” Seiter says. “They’re so close I consider them one giant city.” Downtown Bryan is 4 miles away, while Texas A&M University is 3 miles in the opposite direction. Easterwood Airport, 3 miles from Shirewood, offers commercial flights to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and is easily accessible by hopping on the Harvey Mitchell Parkway.

“The surrounding area has really improved with new business. It has grown tremendously, which has done nothing but help the value of that neighborhood,” Seiter says. Martin’s Place has been a staple in Bryan since 1925, serving old-fashioned Texas barbecue in a no-frills, old-school diner setting. Shipley Do-Nuts has plenty of sweet treats like kolaches and donuts to enjoy after a meal. Walmart is less than a mile up Villa Maria Road in Rudder’s Landing shopping center, which also has an array of chain restaurant options.
