Eateries and meaderies unique to Seneca Babcock
In South Buffalo and Erie County, Seneca Babcock’s residential streets still resemble its industrial days. Converted buildings, like the Niagara Frontier Food Terminal at Babcock’s northern edge, provide new amenities like meaderies, cideries and local produce. This transformation from industrial to residential is not unique to Seneca Babcock; it’s a growing movement across all of South Buffalo.

Important to Know
In 2022, a mass casualty hate crime at Tops Friendly Supermarket deeply impacted not just Seneca Babcock but the entire state. In response, The New York State Legislature passed laws banning semi-automatic sales to most people under 21. “When this happened, it was the only grocery store in the area,” Flavin says. “So, when it closed, many were out of food. The community came together and donated a ton of food. It was a difficult time, but the community effort was astounding.”
