While the East Fairmount neighborhood is mostly residential, there are restaurants and shops nearby. Locals shop at the Walmart Supercenter or Aldi for groceries and frequent the fast and casual dining options, such as KFC and McDonald’s. For sit-down restaurants, the long-running pizza and wings spot, Pizza Oven, is at the corner of one of the biggest highways in the neighborhood, U.S. Highway 62. The Hide-A-Way Buffalo Grill is another dining option, known since its opening in 1956 for its signature buffalo burger. Highways join the neighborhood with Downtown Canton
East Fairmount has convenient access to two prominent highways: U.S. Highway 62 and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway 77, which runs from South Carolina to Cleveland. The area is car dependent, with limited walkability outside of the residential areas, and is only somewhat bikeable. Residents can drive about 4 miles to downtown Canton or take one of the numerous regional bus routes around the area. An Amazon order-fulfillment center opened in the northern end of the neighborhood in 2023, employing about 1,000 people in its 1 million square foot facility just north of U.S. 62. Across the highway, Stark County's Sheriff's Office operates its headquarters and a jail, alongside the Stark County Humane Society.
