Custom homes, highly rated schools and low taxes in Cecil Township
The growing community of Cecil Township, located outside Pittsburgh, offers residents a nice selection of homes, highly rated schools and proximity to Southpointe, a nearby business development with several major corporations. “There are very few places that you can build custom homes in our area that are in the Canon-McMillan School District,” says Rich Dallas, Realtor with Berkshire-Hathaway HomeServices. “There's a lot of land to still be developed, so there’s a lot of construction.” Cecil Township is at the northern end of Washington County, which has lower taxes than neighboring Allegheny County.

Acreage and neighborhood options for single-family homes
With lots of undeveloped land in the township, new construction is ongoing. “There’s a good mix of rural and neighborhood,” Dallas says. “If you wanted to buy something on 15 acres, you could, or if you wanted to buy something in a little neighborhood, you could, too.” Housing options include ranch-style, bi-level and New Traditional homes, with most prices ranging from $200,000 to $600,000. Residences are often hillside and surrounded by lush greenery on winding residential streets without sidewalks or curbs. The market here moves slowly, with homes selling after an average of 81 days, much longer than the national average of 52. Cecil Township has a 2 out of 10 CAP Index Crime Score, below the national average of 4.
