Chelmsford Public Schools, an A-rated public school system

South Row Elementary is right by the neighborhood on Boston Road and serves children from kindergarten to fourth grade. Students here receive weekly lessons on physical education, technology, art and music, promoting a comprehensive and enriched learning experience. Parker Middle School is for fifth and sixth graders and provides courses in studio art, music concepts and literature enrichment. McCarthy Middle School is for seventh and eighth-grade students. All three schools have an A-minus Niche score. Chelmsford High School has an A and partners with Middlesex Community College and provides dual-enrollment courses in several subjects, including business and engineering.

Green spaces around town

The neighborhood sits next to Russell Mill Pond and Town Forest, an expansive green and forested space featuring mountain biking trails. People also take their pets for walks around the pond, and local leagues often use the adjacent Murphy Field for soccer games. A diverse dining scene in Chelmsford Center

Navigating into Boston

Interstate 495 and U.S. Route 3 are relatively close to the area. Commuters can take U.S. Route 3 and Interstate 93 and access both Boston and the Boston Logan International Airport in about 30 miles. Public bus service is provided by the Lowell Regional Transit Authority, taking people throughout Greater Lowell. The adjacent city of Lowell also has an MBTA commuter rail station, and the Lowell Line can take people directly to downtown Boston. Lowell General Hospital is 7 miles away, and the community has a CAP Index crime score of 1 out of 10, which is significantly lower than the national average of 4.

Annual festivals and community art events

The Chelmsford Community of the Arts is a significant cultural center in town, providing art lessons, seasonal rotating exhibits, special events and talks to the Chelmsford and Lowell area. The venue plans weekly events such as open-mic and karaoke nights, and seasonal musical performances and celebrations such as the Festival of Trees. “We are housed in a beautiful building and it’s starting to get really busy here,” says Lauren Cochran, the executive director of the art center. “It’s very exciting times and we are planning art shows, jazz and trivia nights, and many of our events sell out quickly.” Annual events organized by the town include the Independence Day Parade & Country Fair, a fall festival and a winter market called the Holiday Gift Stroll of Center Village.
