City living meets suburban serenity in Chicago's furthest northwest neighborhood
As Chicago's furthest northwest neighborhood, Edison Park is the most suburban a buyer can get while still being in the city. The neighborhood has a mix of single-family and multi-unit housing, accommodating a range of budgets and lifestyles, and enjoys the walkability of city living with the quiet serenity of suburbia. Its neighborhood Metra station keeps Edison Park a quick train ride away from downtown, so "You can still go to the city and take advantage of city living like nightlife, food and entertainment while being able to enjoy suburban living," as Wendy Lee, who's sold real estate in Chicago and its suburbs for nearly 20 years, explains. "You get the best of both worlds."
Historic housing on quiet residential streets
Edison Park has a mix of single-family and multi-unit housing, offering a range of flexibility that suits different buyers' needs. Much of the neighborhood's housing was built in the '50s through '70s, with brick bungalows and condos being standard. However, early 20th-century builds like American Foursquares, Tudors and Colonial Revivals are also available in the neighborhood. In Edison Park, neighborhood streets are quiet, cozy and quintessentially suburban, offering residents "the benefit of getting around with ease while living in a quiet community with less hustle and bustle," as Lee says. Well-paved sidewalks line neatly mowed lawns shaded by tall trees, and outdoor living spaces like screened-in front porches and upper-level balconies add to the neighborhood's sense of community. Prices here start around $200,000 for a two-bedroom condo, and most homes fall between $300,000 and $600,000, though larger, well-maintained historic homes and new constructions will sometimes list for more. The median list price in Edison Park is about $400,000.

Our community is safe and I feel comfortable walking around at night. As a kid, our parents would let us run around outside around the neighborhood and feel safe about it.

Overall clean, quiet and family oriented neighborhood. I hope it stays this way and a lot of crime does not creep into the neighborhood. Also, I hope the Edison Park area resturants stop closing...we dont need too many more vacant storefronts and resturants...otherwise the neighborhood will start to go down and it will start looking like 6 corners
