Finneytown balances green space and everyday convenience
Tucked into the hills just outside Cincinnati, Finneytown trades big-city bustle for quiet, tree-lined streets. A mix of single-family homes and quick highway connections makes this stretch of Springfield Township appealing to a variety of buyers. Families have both public and private schools nearby, and the outdoors is never far away, from wooded preserves to soccer fields to open water. Errands and casual dining stay close to home.
What kinds of homes and prices are common in Finneytown
Most of Finneytown's homes went up in the 1940s, '50s and '60s. You'll see a lot of split-levels, bi-levels and ranch-style homes along these suburban streets, usually on lots that run bigger than what you'd find farther south in the city. Single-family homes make up most of what's for sale, though a handful of townhouses and condos have changed hands too, from the high $100,000s to the mid-$200,000s.
The median sale price sits in the mid-$200,000s, with single-family homes ranging from the lower $100,000s to the upper $400,000s. That puts Finneytown roughly in line with neighboring communities like College Hill and Winton Lake, as well as the citywide median.
"There are a lot of established trees, because it's an older neighborhood," says Cincinnati native Amy Getgey, a Realtor with Comey & Shepherd Realtors. "People grow up there, and then they tend to stay. They know their neighbors. I have friends whose parents grew up in Finneytown and still live there."
Midcentury homes on roomy lots give Finneytown its settled, lived-in feel.

Easy access to hiking, soccer fields and time on the water
Mature trees are just part of everyday life in Finneytown, but if you're after a little more green, you don't have to go far. Right off Winton Road, Warder Nature Preserve has a paved trail that winds through 54 acres of old woods and a restored pond. A short drive away, Stephanie Hummer Memorial Park gives local families three soccer fields and a playground. And when the snow falls, neighbors grab their sleds and head for the hill by the parking lot.
For a bigger dose of the outdoors, Winton Woods spreads across more than 2,500 acres just a few minutes from home. There's a lake where you can fish or rent a boat, an equestrian center and miles of trails to hike and bike.
A Greek festival brings a taste of the Mediterranean to Finneytown
Each summer, the neighborhood's Greek Orthodox church throws open its doors for a three-day festival. Holy Trinity-St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church hosts the Panegyri Greek Festival, a three-day event inviting visitors from across Cincinnati. The name loosely translates to "festival for everyone," and organizers welcome anyone curious about the food or culture, with Greek dishes, live music, folk dancing and cultural exhibits. "There's a wide range of faith communities here," Getgey says. "The Panegyri festival every June is a fun one — the Greek dancing, the food, the traditions."
