Prominent Cincinnati neighborhood with historic character and new energy

As Cincinnati ’s largest neighborhood, Westwood makes room for historic properties, a trendy dining scene and the Queen City’s largest park. The community's beating heart exists around landmarks like the Westwood Town Hall, Westwood United Methodist Church and Westwood First Presbyterian Church. Here, these two houses of worship stand out with their stone craftsmanship and blend of Gothic and Romanesque architecture. During the week, many pass by these buildings on their daily errands. Westwood’s charm carries over to its housing, too. “There are lots of Tudors, saltboxes, very nice homes. Some of them have fallen into disarray, but people have come back and brought them back to life. It’s just real quality-built homes with really beautiful woodwork and architecture. It has a lot to offer,” says Nick Guetle, the owner of Cincinnati Boardwalk Realtors, who has made over 30 sales in Westwood. “Westwood also has its own little town area that’s really trying to make a comeback with restaurants and entertainment.”

Exploring the Mount Airy Forest

Spanning nearly 1,500 acres, about half of the Mount Airy Forest falls within the Westwood community. The park — the city’s largest — is a restored forest boasting a myriad of outdoor attractions. Hikers and bikers can explore the woods' miles of trail. Disc golf enthusiasts will find a course here, and dog owners let their pets stretch their legs at the park. Other notable attractions here include the Diehl-Unnewehr House, an 1830s-style home with arched masonry ceilings and a wine cellar. Everybody’s Treehouse is a literal treehouse that can be reached from a raised boardwalk. The Westwood Town Hall offers another outdoor site, where children enjoy the playground and surrounding greenery. For more activities in Westwood, there’s the Dunham Recreation Center with its 100-plus acres of sports fields.

Second Saturdays and the new Westwood Farmers Market

The Westwood Town Hall hosts Second Saturdays, a festive gathering series that runs between June and August. The event features live music, hot dogs and bounce houses for children. The Westwood Farmers Market, established in 2024, runs from to May to October and occurs Thursday at the Westwood United Methodist Church. “It’s been a great addition, I love it. I get my fresh eggs, meat and veggies, all there,” says Julie Fletcher, the church’s office administrator. “What I love about that is supporting local families. It’s a nice feeling.” An important community event here is the Harvest Home Fair in nearby Cheviot. The fair occurs over several days in September and features a parade, rides attractions, vendor booths, a cornhole tournament, live music and art and flower shows.

I moved here because my wife and son were here. I've been in cincy since April. It is quiet and quaint. I don't have any complaints. Everything is close by, good food, and It's slower than living downtown

Westwood is truly a gem in Cincinnati. The downtown region is thriving. There are so many restaurants opening, shops, cafes, fitness studios. You can bring your dog to Westside brewing or check out one of the many events at town hall. I always feel safe walking around and love the since of community. The people that live in Westwood are committed to seeing it grow.

All the festivals and summer activities and stores are very convenient. I would fix all the pot holes and traffic jams.
