Welcome to Clinton

Sitting on the northern edge of Davis County is the small town of Clinton, settled in 1879. Renters who wish to become homeowners or families searching for their dream homes have options here, where big houses sell for lower price points. “Families finally ready to take the leap and buy the big house they’ve always envisioned for themselves move to Clinton,” says Sloane Peterson, an Associate Broker with Ridgeline Realty. “Most families stay here for at least seven years, because they’re buying homes that give them room to grow throughout various seasons of life. It’s also a popular spot for those who don’t want to hear jets fly over from Hill Air Force Base.” First-time homeowners and families ready to upgrade know they’ll get more bang for their buck in Clinton.

Larger homes for less

Many Clinton homes sit on quarter-acre lots with plenty of yard space for landscaping in the front and a playground for the kids in the back. Mid-to-late 1900s ramblers and Colonial Revivals with built-in two-car garages fall into the starter home category and range from $318,000 to $500,000. New constructions are also rapidly popping up in the area. A budget between $600,000 and $800,000 unlocks New Traditional Craftsman-style homes, with many spread across over 3,500 square feet. It allows families looking to relocate to find large homes that would easily cost an extra $200,000 in suburbs closer to Salt Lake City. Mansions in Clinton start at $800,000 and peak at $1.05 million, with custom-built properties that can stretch up to 10,000 square feet. Planned communities sit within the neighborhood, like Cranefield Estates, and homes are surrounded by mature trees that provide shade for neighborhood walks.

Clinton parks are a hole in one

Local athletes can play almost any sport at Civic Center Park. Grassy fields separate four baseball diamonds, two tennis courts and a basketball court. Visitors can eat lunch under covered picnic tables, challenge their friends to a sand volleyball tournament or play a game at Clinton’s only disc golf course. Eight swings, monkey bars and slides entertain children while teens shred at the skate park, which has various ramps. Crane Field Golf Course is a regulation 18-hole course and driving range where locals can let off some steam. Meanwhile, Powerline Park includes scenic walking trails, while Pond Park is a popular spot for fishing. Community spirit runs rampant during Clinton Heritage Days. The beginning of summer is marked by various events throughout the first week of June, such as a pickleball tournament or the annual Clinton Idol competition.

Plenty of big box retailers

WinCo Foods and Walmart Supercenter are two nearby grocery options. There are also big box retailers like Lowe’s, Kohl’s and Ross in the same shopping center. Layton Hills Mall sits eight miles south of the community and features several popular shops for locals to browse. Locals praise the sweet treats and friendly staff at Great Harvest Bread Company. It’s a popular spot for breakfast, lunch or just a mid-day snack. The owners buy whole wheat from local family farms and mill it daily to make fresh loaves of bread used for their sandwiches and baked goods.
