"We have a community center right on the pond that people rent out, and that's usually where they hold events. You also have your events in the cul-de-sac or on the street," Lewis says. These events include impromptu block parties or potlucks where residents will receive a flyer at their front door inviting them to cook their favorite meal to share with their neighbors. Castlegate is just 8 miles from Texas A&M University and 13 miles from Bryan, which are both accessible using State Highway 6. Locals flying within the state are about 9 miles from Easterwood Airport, a regional airport offering commercial flights for United and American Airlines.
