The community also has one of the state's highest-rated schools: Columbus High School. It's a popular area for families, providing suburban tranquility while close to other major employers like Aflac and Uptown's dining and entertainment.

Students start their education at Clubview Elementary, which earned an overall B-plus from Niche. Students then attend Richards Middle, which earned an A-minus. Hardaway High School serves secondary students and earned a C. Another option is the application-based magnet school Columbus High, located in the neighborhood's southeastern corner. According to Niche, the school is ranked the number one magnet school in Georgia. “This school is always ranking at the top of county, state and some years even national lists,” Coleman says. The highly regarded institution offers a rigorous, liberal arts-based curriculum and earned an A-plus from Niche.

Residents are walking distance from Lakebottom Park
Located in Columbus's Park District, the greenspaces surrounding Garrard Woods are a draw for nature enthusiasts. Lakebottom Park is the area's largest outdoor space. “This area used to be a lake, so Lakebottom is what the locals now call it,” Coleman says. Shady lawns along Weracoba Creek, a playground and baseball fields popular with local Little Leagues. Dinglewood Park is known for its nine-hole disc golf course. The shade of mature trees helps players stay cool during the game, and picnic tables are perfect for bringing a post-game lunch. The community sits along the southern edge of the Country Club of Columbus. This membership-only club has an 18-hole championship course, a fitness center, pool, tennis courts and a dining room with a sitting porch. Residents can also head to the Columbus Aquatic Center for a swim.
Residents can take long walks or jog around the Lakebottom Park.

There's no shortage of dining and retail amenities close to Garrard Woods. The Saint Elmo Shopping Center is less than a half mile down Cherokee Avenue.
