Crossgate is a small home-rule city of about 100 single-family residences in northeast Louisville, just off Brownsboro Road. Buyers are drawn to its established setting and appealing location. The community was developed primarily in the 1960s and 1970s, so housing reflects that era’s architecture. Traditional ranch-style homes, split-levels and multi-level brick Colonials make up the bulk of the options. There is a mix of homes with attached garages and others with side driveways that lead to detached garages. Lots are spacious, and mature trees add to the established feel. Homes sell in the $300,000s, and more than 90% of residents are homeowners. “What makes Crossgate so unique is that it although it’s only a few streets, it is its own municipality, with its own mayor and board of commissioners,” says Terry Turbeville, a Realtor with Re/Max Action First, who has decades of real estate experience. “It is a very desirable location, and homes turn over quickly.”

Just across Brownsboro Road, the Holiday Manor Shopping Center could hardly be more conveniently located. It is anchored by a Kroger and includes several shops and restaurants. Popular dining destinations there include:

Highly rated Ballard High is among trio of public schools nearby
The community is served by Jefferson County Schools, and three of the district's schools are close by. Wilder Elementary School and Ballard High School are within walking distance, and Kammerer Middle School is about a mile away. Ballard High earns an A from Niche and is known for its extensive visual arts program. St. Albert the Great Parish School, which serves students in kindergarten through eighth grade, is a private option in the area.
Kammerer Middle School is about a mile from Crossgate.
Nearby Ballard High School has its own fine arts center.

VA medical facility next door along I-264
The new Louisville VA Medical Center is just outside of the community at the intersection of Brownsboro Road and Interstate 264. Also known as the Watterson Expressway, I-264 circles the city and provides convenient access to downtown Louisville and the city’s international airport. Downton is about 9 miles and 20 minutes away, while Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport is about 12 miles and 25 minutes away. Transit Authority of River City buses provide alternative transportation to local points of interest.
The Crossgate neighborhood is close to the Watterson Expressway and Interstate 71.
