It’s also home to the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, a 24-hour Level I trauma center that specializes in heart health and orthopedics. Prices for older townhomes and condominiums

The vast majority of the neighborhood consists of renters who live in one of the nearby apartments and condos. Sidewalks line the streets, making it easy to walk to nearby commercial areas. For those looking to own, condo prices range between the upper $70,000s and the lower $200,000s, depending on their size and amenities. Older townhomes can have two to three stories and prices ranging from the upper $100,000s to mid-$200,000s.

New builds in Merion at Midtown Park

Merion at Midtown Park is a newer master-planned community with on-site amenities such as a dog park, a fire pit and an infinity-edge pool with private cabanas. Single-family homes feature traditional and contemporary architectural styles and cost between the mid-$500,000s to the lower $700,000s. “You have a more modern aspect of living, but you have the quietness and serenity of a suburb as well,” says Khalil Willis, a local Realtor with Pinnacle Realty Advisors. “It’s the best of both worlds.”

Shopping malls around Park Lane

Lots of shopping centers and malls can be found on the west side of the neighborhood alongside the highway. A few of them include:

  • The Shops at Park Lane, anchored by Bloomingdale's, Nordstrom Rack and Whole Foods Market.
  • NorthPark Center, one of the largest shopping malls in the nation with over 230 stores.
  • Caruth Plaza, a strip mall with retailers such as T.J. Maxx and Men's Warehouse.
  • Meadow Central Market, which has a CVS Pharmacy and a Tom Thumb grocery store.
There are also a couple of big-box stores south of Park Lane such as Costco, The Home Depot and Academy Sports + Outdoors. Half Price Books’ flagship store is based in Vickery and has a coffee shop and book signing events. “Everything that you need is right here,” says Lisa Richardson, a local Realtor with Halo Group Realty. “You never even have to leave the area."

Nearby parks and trails to White Rock Lake

Harry S. Moss Park spans over 280 acres and features a soccer complex and several miles of off-road biking trails. The 236-acre Fair Oaks Park is right next to it and has a playground with a couple of basketball courts and softball fields. The SoPac Trail runs past both parks and leads to White Rock Lake roughly 5 miles away. There’s also a Top Golf venue where attendees play minigolf across three 18-hole courses. “That area of Dallas is a mainstay,” Willis says. “It’s known for all of its parks, greenery, walking trails. There’s a little bit of everything.”

Local restaurants and fast-food options in Vickery

There are lots of restaurants within Vickery’s shopping centers. A few of them include:

  • Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, a movie theater chain that delivers burgers, wings and cocktails straight to your seat.
  • Bellagreen, an American bistro with scratch-made soups, salads and sandwiches.
  • Enchilada's Restaurant, an authentic Mexican establishment that's been serving the area for 30 years.
  • Norma's Cafe, famous for its Texas-sized cinnamon rolls and homemade pies.
  • Roma's, a pizza and Italian restaurant that also serves garlic rolls and calzones.
There are also some fast-food restaurants by the highway such as Whataburger, Chick-fil-A and McDonald’s. More dining options can be found in NorthPark Center and Downtown Dallas .

Dallas ISD schools that offer college credit

There are a few public schools within the neighborhood, all of which are part of the Dallas Independent School District. Jack Lowe Sr. Elementary is a top-rated National Blue Ribbon School with STEM and fine arts programs, while Sam Tasby Middle offers after-school tutoring and a food pantry for underprivileged families. Emmett J. Conrad High School features five certified National Academies Foundation programs where students can earn college credit in hospitality, finance, engineering, information technology and health sciences. Students can also apply for campuses outside of the neighborhood through the district’s school choice program. Private education is also an option with the nearby Fusion Academy and the Classical School of Dallas.

Highways and rail lines to Downtown Dallas

U.S. Route 75 runs along the west side of the neighborhood and is the main highway to Downtown Dallas. Loop 12 passes by the southern end and leads to Dallas Love Field airport about 8 miles away. Dallas Area Rapid Transit buses provide public transportation to the hospital nearby, and residents can access the red and orange rail lines from Walnut Hill Station and Park Lane Station.
