Vintage single-family homes sell for under $400,000

“East Dearborn has some beautiful, beautiful old properties,” says Realtor Teodora Djourova of Clients First Realtors, who has nearly 20 years of experience. Cottages, bungalows and Colonial Revivals are common. Most were built in the early 20th century, and their stylings vary. Some have tall, arched porch columns, and others have steep, Tudor-inspired gabled roofs. The median sale price is $250,000, just below the city’s median of $270,000. Prices typically start in the upper $100,000s and rise to the mid-$300,000s.

Residents are a short walk from Geer Park, which has a covered picnic area, a paved path and a grassy field with a baseball backstop. The Bint Jebail Cultural Center nearby hosts community events, private parties and a series of youth programs, including after-school tutoring and skill-building workshops.

The Arab American National Museum is also close, just across the old city hall site and the new Dearborn Peace Park East green space. The museum is the first of its kind in the country, with exhibits showcasing Arab American art, history and culture, and an extensive library of Arab American historical documents. The Ford Community & Performing Arts Center and the Henry Ford Centennial Library are less than 2 miles away.

Grocery stores and Middle Eastern eateries nearby

Kroger, Dearborn Fresh Supermarket and Freshland Market are within 2 miles of most homes. The little shopping center with Kroger also has a Snipes shoe store and a CVS. Michigan Avenue is lined with popular coffee shops and restaurants, including:

  • Mud & Marble, a coffeehouse known for simple, but earthy and richly flavored coffee
  • Haraz Coffee House, which brews classic Yemeni coffee
  • Habib’s Cuisine, a sophisticated Lebanese restaurant and banquet hall
  • Ariana Afghan Restaurant, a casual, home-style Afghani eatery
“We have many, many good restaurants and coffee shops. They’re so beautiful, too, the decorations make it look like you’re in Dubai,” Djourova says. She adds that most local businesses adjust their hours for Ramadan, staying open later to accommodate folks fasting for the Islamic holy month. “People here are very loving. They care for each other that way,” Djourova says.

Bright, beautifully maintained, and exactly what you’ve been waiting for. This 2-bedroom, 2 full bath end-unit condo is filled with natural light and freshly painted throughout all three levels. The vaulted living room creates that open, airy feel everyone wants, while the gas fireplace makes it just as cozy in the colder months. And because it’s an end unit? Extra windows = even more sunshine
