Goldsmith offers access to Colorado Boulevard shopping, I-25 and parks

Goldsmith is a south Denver suburb around 10 miles from downtown. The neighborhood features 1960s and ‘70s homes close to Interstate-25 and the businesses of Monaco Street Parkway and Colorado Boulevard. Proximity to both the University of Denver and the Denver Tech Center makes it a popular home for workers at some of the city’s largest employers, and public transit is easily accessible.

Attractive home prices and spacious lots

Brick ranch-style homes and split-levels are common in Goldsmith, and most were built between the mid 1960s and early 1970s. Wide driveways lead to attached, two-car garages, and many properties reach over 10,000 square feet. While most homes sit close together, established tree cover offers a degree of privacy between neighbors. “You’ll find older but solid homes here,” says Jackie Warner, a broker associate with HomeSmart who grew up in the area. “And there’s a good mix of high rises, condos and single-family homes.” Many buyers are drawn to the area for its southside location and more affordable offerings compared to nearby neighborhoods like Cherry Creek and Washington Park. Home prices here are slightly lower compared to the Denver County average, with single-family homes ranging from the low $500,000s to around $1 million. The northwest end of the neighborhood is primarily where you’ll find one to four-bedroom condos and townhouses, with prices starting in the low $100,000s and reaching the upper $500,000s. There are also a handful of luxury multifamily units along Quebec Street reaching over $800,000.

Denver Public Schools a short drive away

Local families are served by Denver Public Schools, with highly rated nearby schools like Bradley Elementary and Thomas Jefferson High. The district is known for its robust career and technical education programs, which range from digital media and communications to design and multimedia arts. “Denver Public Schools has become a better and better district over the years,” says Warner. “And some pockets of Goldsmith are served by Cherry Creek School District, which is a big draw.” Students can earn both high school and college credit by taking concurrent enrollment courses through schools like Community College of Denver, Colorado State University and University of Colorado Denver.

Active business corridors border Goldsmith

There are multiple active shopping hubs within a short drive, including Villa Monaco, which has a gym, locally owned restaurants and a butcher shop. “It’s an easily accessible area. There are pockets close by that are super high-end,” says Christine Belin, a Denver local and Broker Associate at Evernest, LLC, with over ten years of experience in real estate. “This is kind of where the heart of I-25 is and Cherry Creek North is extremely close as well, which is a super affluent area.” * Cherry Creek North is home to dozens of popular eateries. For a meal out, you can:

  • Grab a table at Salt Water Social, known for its high-end steak and seafood dishes.
  • Sit down for brunch or order a coffee to go at Olive and Finch.
  • Enjoy a burger and American pub bites at The Cherry Cricket.
Closer to home, you can pick up your groceries and household essentials at Safeway or King Soopers.

Parks and recreation nearby

While Goldsmith borders an active commercial corridor, outdoor recreation is still within reach. Nearby parks and recreation areas include:

  • The 66-acre James A. Bible Park, which offers open space, a large playground, and facilities for baseball, tennis and basketball
  • The Goldsmith Gulch Trail, which passes between residential pockets before connecting to the 70-mile High Line Canal Trail
  • The Cherry Creek Country Club, where members can be found enjoying the Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course, spending an afternoon at the pool or having a meal in the clubhouse

The food and drink near this area has a limited amount of choices to chose from. The best are the Mexican restaurants because they always have drink specials and the food is very filling.

The local businesses are mostly geared to the professional world and warehouse style corporations. Some mom and pop shops are around like a flower shop, a couple of restaurants, and automotive repair shops.

It's an ok area to live in. Some areas near my home are pretty sketchy but I have access to everything I need and it's the cheapest area I could find close to the school I attend.

Colorado weather in this area like other areas are unpredictable and can change drastically but that is why we live here. I love it.
