Sherrelwood, an established and walkable residential community

Whether you’re spending a winter day warming up with local barbecue or biking to a neighborhood park on a hot summer afternoon, you’ll find a welcoming community in Sherrelwood. “Sherrelwood is very similar in price to neighboring Welby, although Sherrelwood actually has a few newer homes and more homes that have been updated and remodeled in the last 5 to 10 years,” says associate broker Mark Neises of Coldwell Banker Realty. If you do choose to settle in Sherrelwood, you’ll find narrow sidewalks that offer a comfortable route for morning walks, and as you reach the top of a hilly street, you can catch a glimpse of the Denver skyline to the south and the hazy mountain range to the west. With relative affordability, charming parks and popular attractions nearby, Sherrelwood offers suburban comfort just north of Denver.

Renovated ranch-style homes and luxury estates

Housing options range from traditional brick ranch-style builds to contemporary Craftsman homes with dusty blue siding. While you may spot a few more luxurious estates with creative brickwork and Spanish-style elements, most of the homes are on the modest side — especially those that are still standing from the 1960s. Many of these homes have been lovingly cared for and updated by long-time owners, but there’s still a stark contrast between the community’s earliest blocks and developments that have popped up within the last two decades. Surprisingly, though, you won’t find nearly as much contrast when it comes to price: Both new and old residences fall within the $400,000 to $550,000 price range, which is significantly lower than Westminster overall.

Bike-friendly trails, sports facilities and playgrounds

Some hills in the area are no joke, and although the streets are wide enough to accommodate cyclists alongside cars, many residents opt to save the bike for flatter trails, like those at 8-acre Cobblestone Park. Here, you’ll find a relaxing, looping path encircling an open field perfect for an afternoon picnic. The circular theme continues with the park’s colorful playground, which features a balance bridge. At the southwest end of the community, Waddell Park serves as the home base for local baseball leagues. Four fields allow for multiple games on the weekend, and kids can burn off any extra energy at the vibrant, shaded playground. At the heart of the community sits Sherrelwood Park, a 23-acre space where you can relax by the reservoir, play a quick game of catch on the field or stroll the paved and well-maintained trails. Waterworld is Westminster’s premier water park, with adrenaline-pumping options for the whole family. Spend an hour relaxing on the lazy river or get your heart racing with a trip down the six-story speed slides.

An old-fashioned diner, a barbeque franchise and errand running

Smokin’ Dave’s BBQ & Brew is an award-winning local barbecue franchise that has won the hearts of locals and visitors alike with its signature tangy barbecue sauce, which you can thankfully buy by the jar at any of Dave’s four locations. Across the parking lot, you can step back in time with a traditional breakfast skillet or a loaded burger at Great Scott’s Eatery, which celebrates the aesthetic of a classic 1960s diner. And if you’re craving Mexican, you can’t go wrong with anything at Las Delicias, a long-running local favorite that relies on generations-old recipes to produce the most flavorful dishes. You can stop off for groceries at King Soopers, which is located just off 84th Avenue.

Denver has a good nightlife scene. Lots of interesting food and drink spots and lots of entertainment to go along with it.

This is a mostly hispanic/low income area, and again there are only small family owned mom-and-pop shops and fast food chains/grocery shops, with not much opportunities for career development. I do not know what most people do in the area but I would guess working for grocery shops, auto shops, etc.
