Houses are set back from the sidewalks to allow for modest front lawns, and mature trees are scattered throughout the brick bungalows and colonials. Prices range from $45,000 for a four-bedroom historic bungalow needing renovation to $200,000 for a three-bedroom rehabilitated colonial. Multi-family properties sell for between $240,000 for a four-unit colonial and $800,000 for a 15-unit historic condo building. From pocket park to expansive green spaces
Riverbend has a pocket park covering 2.6 acres on Goethe Street. The Algonquin-Goethe Park contains an open area that doubles as a soccer field, a basketball court and a playground. There’s also a walking path around the perimeter. Nearby, Chandler Park is one of only four regional parks in Detroit covering more than 200 acres. It has a municipal golf course, a large family aquatic center and an athletic field for football, soccer or lacrosse. Cared for by the Chandler Park Conservancy, the green space is home to marshland, gardens and a skate park. There’s also a fitness zone and tennis courts for those hoping to break a sweat.Science programs and liberal arts

The elementary/middle facility earned a C-minus from Niche, while the high school has a D-plus overall and a B-plus for its teachers. Carstens teaches a STEM curriculum and uses the area’s waterfront resources to teach children hands-on lessons. It provides art therapy and tutoring as after-school activities. The East English Village Preparatory Academy offers dual enrollment with the University of Detroit Mercy and has extracurricular programs like robotics club, academic games and career and technical education.Bus routes to everywhere

Detroit Soul is known for large portions and down-home cuisine. Its food takes inspiration from Indigenous, African, and Caribbean cooking traditions, and everything is made from scratch with locally sourced ingredients. POST was opened in 2017 by Mutal Adoration, a business specializing in crafts and community building. The mixed-use space has rentable studios and a retail shop and is home to local companies producing work in the building’s studios. It hosts workshops and private crafting parties and teaches screen printing, ceramic glazing and enameled jewelry making.
