East Caroll is a rural community near Ebensburg with farmland and homes on large plots of land. While other surrounding communities relied on bituminous coal mines through the 19th and 20th centuries, the township has been recognized as a farming community long before its incorporation in 1910. East Carroll is made up of rolling hills, pine barrens and vast, open farmland. The town is also the current home of the Cambria County Fire School Training facility. “It’s a small-town community with a friendly atmosphere,” says Tressa Lefferts, who serves as the borough clerk for the Carrolltown Municipal Office.
