Keep your eye on the mountains in Canutillo, where the rich flow of history is as strong as the Rio Grande that splits this neighborhood down the middle. “All the areas in El Paso are beautiful in their own way, but if buyers are looking for more land, they should look in Canutillo,” says Magda Acuna, a local Realtor with Exit Elite Realty who has over 10 years of experience. “You might think we’re just a suburb of El Paso, but we’re a decent size. Not to mention we’ve got stunning views of the mountains.” Canutillo’s story started when the land was chartered by the Canutillo Townsite and Land Company in 1909. After building its first post office and a few general stores in 1914, the local population really took off – eventually growing into the Canutillo we know today.

Traveling around north of El Paso
With the Rio Grande splitting the Canutillo neighborhood in half, many residents use their own vehicles to travel around the expansive area and get to restaurants and shops. Texas State Route 28 cuts through the western side of Canutillo and Interstate 10 follows the eastern edge of the neighborhood, giving commuters two different pathways to leave the area – Interstate 10 can take drivers all the way into El Paso.
