Logan Heights
Renovated homes and brick ranches
Homes in Logan Heights were predominantly built in the 1950s, with a few more recent structures built in the 1970s and beyond. Brick ranches and Spanish Revival-inspired homes with front porches, back patios and two-car garages are common. Homes with updates like new flooring, revamped kitchens or fresh paint can range from $135,000 to $200,000, while recently built or remodeled homes can range from $200,000 to $300,000. Many homeowners lean into the desert landscape and opt for lawns made of stone or fake grass with native plants and trees. On-base housing is privatized and operated by Balfour Beatty Communities, which offers rental housing in 18 communities including Logan Heights. Rent includes landscaping, trash removal and a 24-hour responsive call center for maintenance issues. "The strong sense of community is a significant advantage of on-base housing, fostering connections among residents and providing a safe, welcoming atmosphere," says a spokesperson with Balfour Beatty Communities.Pre-engineering magnet program at Chapin High School
Kids can attend Colin L. Powell Elementary School, graded B-minus by Niche. There’s also Logan Elementary School, which receives a C and is located on the Fort Bliss base. From there, kids can head to Canyon Hills Middle School, which also receives a C. Chapin High School, which receives a B-plus, houses a four-year pre-engineering magnet program that focuses on math, science and technology. The high school is also a Purple Star Campus, which means the school has been recognized for its support and commitment to military-connected students and families.Let loose at Logan Park or take advantage of Fort Bliss MWR
Parents and kids head to Logan Park for play dates, birthday parties and good old-fashioned fun at the covered playground and picnic tables. Military members and civilians alike tee off at Underwood Golf Complex, a 36-hole facility with a driving range and a restaurant. Logan Heights is next to McKelligon Canyon, which has views of the Franklin Mountains and an amphitheater that often hosts performances at sunset or under the stars. Military folks can take advantage of the Fort Bliss Morale, Welfare, and Recreation program, which regularly hosts events such as golf tournaments, pool parties, art classes and kids activities. Balfour Beatty Communities also has exclusive LifeWorks events, such as community barbecues and seasonal events. Just outside the neighborhood is Casa de Azucar, or the House of Sugar, whose name stems from the carefully constructed confection-like cement decorations that adorn the house, a labor of love the owner has perfected over more than 25 years.Local restaurants in and around Logan Heights
